Thesis: Máximal transferring, a pediatric oncology data set
PDEng Program: Clincial Informatics
The Princess Máxima Center treats over 500 children with cancer with their Shared Care concept yearly. Unambiguous agreements about registering, using and exchanging information with Shared Care hospitals are needed. This data set, based on Clinical Building Blocks, are a solid base for interoperability, collaboration and optimisation in pediatric oncology.
Thesis: Long-Term Strategy for CO2 Reduction at Dow Terneuzen
PDEng Program: Process and Product Design
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time. All industries must drastically reduce their carbon footprint to limit global warming. Dow Terneuzen aims, by 2050, to cut its CO2 emissions to more than 80%. This project provides a recommendation for a long-term strategy towards this goal.
Thesis: Intelligent Microscope

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, such as object detection and natural language processing are changing the way people interact with software systems. The Intelligent Microscope project answered the questions, how AI can be integrated into electron microscope software, and how an electron microscope can provide microscope users with an understanding of an image context.

With medical technology involved in almost every medical therapy in hospitals, quality and safety assurance and life cycle management of medical technology is becoming more complex every day. Transparent and accessible information about the current status of medical equipment can detect risks and contribute to a safety culture, so patient safety is assured optimally.
Thesis: 60 GHz wireless mesh protocol for multimedia conferencing applications
PDEng Program: Design of Electrical Engineering Systems
In this PDEng project, we have defined a 60GHz wireless mesh protocol suitable for conferencing applications. We have studied different simulators to analyze and evaluate our protocol, and finally, we have checked how we can implement this protocol with available COTS modules like the Qualcomm Atheros WiGig module.
Thesis: E-Bus Multi-zone Thermal Management System Design

Electric Buses are the pioneers of Electric Mobility. Ever since they entered the market they helped moving people in a Clean & Sustainable way. Today is time to make them also cheap to run! I contributed by re-designing the Thermal Management System, which will help VDL to develop the energy-saving strategies of the future.
Thesis: Configuration Management and Spare Parts Planning at ASML
PDEng Program: Industrial Engineering
To provide an accurate forecast on spare parts demand for ASML’s lithography systems, one needs to know exactly which parts are in a machine. This is a challenging task, because each machine is unique and machines are constantly improved. We designed an alert system that integrates various data sources that contain information about machines and the applicable spare parts. After implementation, ASML is now able to improve the data quality of their machine configurations, thereby improving the forecast and planning of spare parts.
Thesis: Managing UX Debt Using a Design System

Product requirements at startups are susceptible to rapid change. To gain agility, companies make compromises while developing the product. This negatively impacts the experience of end users. By implementing user validated interface patterns as building blocks for digital products, the time to market was significantly reduced while the product quality and the team’s efficiency increased.
