Virtual Unaging of Van Gogh's Paintings

AUTOMOTIVE SYSTEMS DESIGN

Paintings degrade due to factors such as dirt accumulation, aging of paint materials and chemical reactions with the atmosphere around. Virtual unaging of Van Gogh’s paintings focuses on reconstructing the degraded colors using deep learning techniques in artificial intelligence. This project aims to preserve the cultural heritage of Netherlands.

I believe there is no end to learning. We learn and evolve down the stream.

Better use of clinical guidelines in the Princess Máxima Centre through standardisation and formalisation in computer interpretable guidelines

CLINICAL INFORMATICS

Healthcare practitioners use clinical guidelines. These are often only available as natural text documents, which are insufficiently effective. I designed a sustainable, interoperable and scalable low-cost solution to standardise text guidelines in computer interpretable guidelines so they could be adopted by other hospitals and used in Clinical Decision Support Systems.

Clinical decision support systems only really help if they are used at the right time, in the right place, using the right data and underlying semantically and syntactically interoperable models.

Wireless Technologies in Future Aircraft

DESIGN OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING SYSTEMS

Replacing the wiring connecting critical aircraft systems calls for an ultra-reliable wireless network. I worked on introducing concepts to increase network reliability and designed a wireless demonstrator network to explore the feasibility of the concept. Wireless networks will lead to lighter aircraft, enabling sustainable future aviation.

The sky is not the limit for wireless technologies:  they will outperform their wired counterparts not only in data rates but also in reliability.

Design of a system to monitor patients at home after colorectal surgery

QUALIFIED MEDICAL ENGINEERING

This project aimed at designing a tailored system for bowel cancer patients that enables safe recovery from home after surgery. The proposed solution combines accurate predictions of the chance of complications before surgery and timely identification of deterioration at home. The result is improved recovery experience and outcome for patients.

Everyone deserves the right type of care in the right place at the right moment.

Feasibility and prototype of replacing commercial off-the-shelf pattern recognition solution

SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGY

Chips are essential parts of electronic devices. ASML enables mass chip production for chipmakers. YieldStar, as ASML metrology machine, uses a Commercial-Off-the-shelf (COTS) solution to align the wafer, make it ready for the measurement. We proposed an in-house solution as a COTS replacement, to help with cutting the cost while keeping the flexibility, accuracy, and performance.

Say Yes to challenges, and make impossible, Possible!

SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS MODEL FOR FACILITATING PUBLIC VALUE CREATION OF LIVING LAB INNOVATION ECOSYSTEMS

SMART BUILDINGS AND CITIES

We designed a digital platform that enables students and the users of ATLAS Living Lab to cocreate innovative solutions for real-life problems.

The platform employs motivational techniques, and awards the participants for their contribution. Meanwhile we get all required actors involved to ensure innovative and meaningful solutions find their way to the market, and eventually the expected social and economic value is created.

Let’s transform public creativity into public value.
