Sebastian Andrei (1990) received his Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology in 2013, after working on the reversible immobilization of proteins and peptides using ferrocene tags and cucurbituril coated surfaces. He continued to apply chemical synthesis to biological problems during his Master’s degree in biomedical engineering. In his Master’s thesis he worked on novel synthetic methods towards biologically active spiroketals in nuclear hormone receptor research, under the supervision of Prof.dr.ir. L. Brunsveld. This was followed by a collaboration between AstraZeneca R&D and Dr. C. Ottmann, where he worked on parallel synthesis of libraries dedicated to 14-3-3 protein-protein interactions (PPIs). After gaining his Master’s degree in 2015, he remained under the supervision of Dr. C. Ottmann and Prof.dr.ir. L. Brunsveld during his PhD, where he dedicates his research to the modulation of 14-3-3 PPIs using small molecule synthesis.
