Xavier (1989) graduated in 2012 from the University of Nantes, France, with a MSc in Organic and Medicinal Chemistry after working on the final steps of the stereoselective synthesis of Fulvol Acetate, a biologically active compound presenting seven stereogenic centres on two six‑membered rings. Then, for his Ph.D. he joined a multidisciplinary research project involving a cluster of laboratories from Nantes. His Ph.D. research work was dedicated to the development of pH-sensitive injectable hydrogels made from functionalised polysaccharides. This kind of hydrogels being particularly promising as biomaterials in the regenerative medicine field.
In November 2016, Xavier started a post-doctoral position in the Chemical Biology Group (Biomedical Engineering department) at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His research, carried out in Prof. Christian Ottmann’s group, is focused on the discovery and evaluation of novel bioactive small molecules for the inhibition and/or stabilization of 14-3-3 protein-protein interactions. To this end, Xavier uses a broad range of technics including synthetic chemistry, in silico design, biophysical assays (e.g. FP, ITC, MST), protein crystallography, solid-phase peptide synthesis, etc.
