Bauke de Vries is chairing the Information Systems in the Built Environment (ISBE) group, and he is full Professor in the Department of the Built Environment at Eindhoven University of Technology. His main areas of expertise are: Systems Engineering , Building Information Modelling, City Information Modelling, and Process modelling in the context of Smart Cities development.
Bauke de Vries is author of over 100 publications that have been presented at international conferences and that were published in international journals. He is vice-president of CAADFutures; editiorial board member of ITCon, CUMINCAD, IJEPR; conference reviewer of DCC, eCAADE, SIGraDi, CAADRIA, ACADIA, CIB-W78, DDSS, ISARC, ISG; journal reviewer of Computers, Environment and Urban Systems, Journal of Engineering Research, International Journal of E-Planning Research, Journal of Information technology in Construction, Artificial Intelligence for Engineering Design, Analysis and Manufacturing, Journal of Building Performance Simulation, Journal of Building Performance Simulation, Journal of Corporate Real Estate, Building Research and Information.
Bauke de Vries has supervised 10 PhDs as first promotor and is currently supervising over 10 new PhDs and PdEngs. He has been partner is the following external funded projects: UNALAB (EU-H2020, REF. 730052-2) on the implementation of nature bases solution in cities for mitigation of climate changes (2017-2022, EUR 1.4M); ROCK (EU-H2020, REF. 730280-2) on the knowledge management of cultural heritage in city transformation (2017-2020, EUR 1.1M) ; Triangulum (EU-H2020, REF. 646578 ) on the implementation of smart cities and communities (2015-2020, EUR 6.4M); iLocate (EU-FP7, REF. 621040)on the development of outdoor and indoor navigation system (2014-2016, EUR 4.7M); DuraArc (EU-FP7, REF. 600908) on the archiving of building information (2013-2016, EUR 3.7M).
Bauke de Vries is currently vice-dean of department of the Built Environment and board member. He is director the CME Master program with approx. 35 graduate students per year. He is scientific director of the TU/e Smart Cities program, and he is member of the project team Brainport Smart District.
