Education

The Urban Systems & Real Estate specialization is concerned with cities and buildings and with the people using these cities and buildings.
The specialization covers a wide range of topics, such as smart mobility, smart cities, energy use in the built environment, real estate development and management, housing, offices, urban facilities like shopping centres and parks, urban planning and information systems in the built environment.

In particular, we pay attention to the interaction between the supply side (management and development of cities, buildings and facilities) and the demand side (what people need and prefer and how people use cities, buildings and facilities). In addition, ongoing trends like aging, global warming and technological developments need to be taken into consideration when (re)developing urban environments.
The USRE education program is research driven. The final graduation project is expected to contribute to ongoing research in the related DDSS-research program.
