Outcomes research accreditation

On December 17, 18 and 19 an international committee of top-researchers from CMU (USA), MIT (USA), Umeå (Sweden), University of Tsukuba (Japan) and PolyU (Hong Kong) visited our department to evaluate the research program on Industrial Design. Based on the self-evaluation report we wrote, and the information gathered during the interviews with management and representatives of the research unit during the site visit.

Great results
The committee formulated their ‘verdict’:  Scientific Quality = very good; Societal Relevance = excellent; Viability = very good. We are very proud of these results and together with the recommendations made by the committee they will definitely help us to further develop towards one of the leading design departments in the world.

Leading role
To quote the chairman of the committee, Professor Cees de Bont from the School of Design of Hong Kong Polytechnic University: “The Department of Industrial Design found its unique position in the landscape of design research. It operates in the high-tech environment of Eindhoven, where it takes a leading role, at national and international levels, in connecting between new technologies and individuals and increasingly between technical and social systems. The Department has become mature in terms of research capabilities, infrastructure and impact. The Department is very well connected to many companies and institutions that have a role in bringing innovations to live.”
