Georges (Sjoerd) Romme obtained a MSc degree in economics (cum laude) from Tilburg University and a doctoral degree in business administration from Maastricht University. He previously was on the staff of Tilburg University and Maastricht University. Currently, he is professor of Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). From 2007 to 2014, Georges Romme also served as dean of the TU/e department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences.

In the period 2005-2007, professor Romme was an International Visiting Fellow of the Advanced Institute of Management Research (AIM) in the UK. He received several educational and best teaching awards from the European Foundation of Management Development (EFMD) and Maastricht University, and the 2016 Tjalling C. Koopmans Asset award for his contribution to management science. His scholarly work focuses on organization design, technology entrepreneurship and new business development. Romme's publications have appeared in Organization Science, Organization Studies, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Technovation, Journal of Management Studies, Industrial & Corporate Change and many other journals. His monograph The Quest for Professionalism (Oxford University Press) received the 2017 Best Book Award of the European Academy of Management as well as the 2017 Responsible Research in Management (RRM) award.

Most of professor Romme's work aims at developing a design mindset among (management and entrepreneurship) scholars as well as students.  As such, Romme has been one of the "original pioneers who brought the design sciences to organization studies" (Paul Bate in: Journal of Applied Behavioral Science, vol. 43, 2007, p. 10). This fascination with science for design is evident from Romme's work on designing circular organizations, educational systems that produce deep learning, and incubation environments for technology startups.
