Biografie

Jiwen Ge has been a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Industrial Engineering of the Eindhoven University of Technology since June of 2013. He is supervised by Professor Jan Fransoo from the Eindhoven University of Technology and Professor Dorothee Honhon from the University of Texas at Dallas. He also collaborates with Professor Lei Zhao from the Tsinghua University. Prior to joining his Ph.D. program, he obtained Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and in Management Science and Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

He conducts his Ph.D. program under the project "Traditional Retail Channel Logistics in Megacities" funded by NWO, the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research. In this project, he builds mathematical models to optimize the sales, pricing and distribution channel policies of Consumer Packaged Goods manufacturers to sell and distribute products to millions of nanostores, a traditional family owned and operated small sized retail format prevalently existing in megacities of emerging markets. He also studies the network policies of On-Demand Retail Platforms which connects tens of thousands of nanostores to consumers in megacities of emerging markets.

In his Ph.D. program, he visited Professor Lei Zhao from the Tsinghua University in the Spring of 2015 where he conducted a field study of traditional retail and studied the operations model of On-Demand Retail Platforms in Beijing. He also visited Professor Dorothee Honhon from the University of Texas at Dallas in the Fall of 2016.
