New group member Michelle Spanjaards
I received my Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering in 2014 at the university of technology in Eindhoven. After that I started my master at the polymer technology group. In 2015 I spent four months at the Technische Universität in Vienna where I investigated the damage behaviour of short fiber reinforced polypropylene. For my master thesis I numerically and experimentally investigated the sedimentation of a particle in a single-phase and two-phase viscoelastic flow under orthogonal shear. In June 2017 I received my Master degree at the university of technology in Eindhoven.
After my graduation I started as a PhD student at the polymer technology group. The aim of my project is to develop a numerical model that can predict the extrudate swelling of rubber as a function of elastic compound characteristics, and from that, optimize the die geometry for the desired strip dimensions. This project is funded by VMI Holland B.V.
