Particles at fluid-fluid interfaces

It has been known for a long time (S.U. Pickering, 1907) that particles can help to create stable emulsions by stabilizing the interface between the fluids. However, the exact mechanisms of particle adsorption at the interface and stabilization of the interface remain not completely understood, especially for complex (viscoelastic) fluids.

We use computational modeling, combined with experiments, to better understand the mechanisms and dynamics of particles in two-phase (complex) flows.
