Constitutive modeling of nanocomposites to predict their mechanical performance attracts significant attention due to the practical importance of this class of materials, e. g. for so-called “green tires”. The main goal of this project is to formulate a model that is suitable for describing the rate- and amplitude dependent behavior of silica-filled elastomers. To that end, we seek a concurrent two-scale model connecting macroscopic continuum mechanics with the filler-particle level, which allows the incorporation of system-specific particle interactions and dynamics.
