Structure Formation by Self-Organization in Soft Materials

In this project we will produce and study the properties of materials with tailored mesoscopic structures from colloidal soft matter. Inducing directionality in interactions and creating anisotropic particles are tasks that will be addressed in order to produce new types of structures. To achieve these goals we will exploit both the equilibrium and the out-of-equilibrium behavior of materials in their colloidal state to produce arrested structures of controlled, meso-scale microstructure.
