  • Information Literacy & Reference Management
  • Open Science

We also offer a variety of workshops and seminars tailored to your specific needs.

Information Literacy & Reference Management (IL&RM)

The world wide web contains an unprecedented amount of information. As a result, doing research requires specific information skills that are indispensable for today’s scientists and engineers. Information skills help you find relevant information for your research, but also to be critical about the reliability of this information and its sources.

The IL&RM PROOF course aims at helping you develop these skills so you can find, evaluate, and organize the information you need for your project with a competent and efficient approach.

In this course you will learn how to use the TU/e library and databases effectively and how to search for information in a strategic manner. You will also learn how to evaluate the information you find on its relevance and reliability. Furthermore, we will teach you how to use references with scientific integrity and to organize, store and share them with Reference Management Software.

Open Science

Increasingly, funders, governmental bodies and academic institutions require researchers to conduct their research from the design to the dissemination openly and transparently. Moreover, more and more researchers themselves also see the benefits of Open Science. Although the concept is not new, it recently gained new importance in the European research and innovation landscape.

Open Science is about doing science in such a way that others can collaborate and contribute to the research subject. This implies that research outputs like research data, software and publications are openly available. This PROOF course acts as an introduction to the basics of Open Science. The course will particularly focus on how to manage research data, publish in open access and meet funder requirements.
