19 July, 2021 Celebration end of demolition
Monday, July 19, marked the end of the demolition of the Paviljoen. Unfortunately with a small crowd due to the Corona measures. One of the 3 small pavilions that remain (the former PVOC) was decorated for the occasion. A series of posters on the walls showed images of the construction of the Paviljoen, past residents, and its demolition. These images can now be seen in the hall of Atlas. A continuous slide show also provided a glimpse into the Paviljoen's nearly 65-year history (1956 - 2019). 3 speakers' presentations explained the history of the Paviljoen, its circular demolition and a look into the future. On this site, student housing towers with about 700 housing units will be built.
One of the students of the first generation, Wim van den Heuvel, was present with his wife, the daughter of Prof. Dr. Henk Dorgelo (the first rector magnificus of the TU/e). As well as the last director of the Paviljoen, Jos Hermus of the IE&IS department.
The complete Executive Board was also present. Rector magnificus Frank Baaijens performed the last act of demolition. He was driving a large crane which he used to pull a piece of the roof off the last facade.
Guests were given a memento of the Paviljoen as they left, a piece of wood with printing from the floor of the main lecture hall.

Update July 2020
Demolition company Van Liempd is busy with the circular demolition inside the Paviljoen and Paviljoen NP. Carefully all materials that are going to be reused will be dismantled.
Update March 2021
After the interior remediation was finished last year, Van Liempd had also carefully started with the (circular) demolition of the Paviljoen and Paviljoen NP. Since the new year progress is well underway and the demolition of the Paviljoen is in full swing. In the process, demolition is proceeding apace, with approximately one wing being demolished per week.

The large space left behind by the Paviljoen and Paviljoen NP in the process is becoming more visible. New photos have been posted in the photo gallery showing the progress.
Updates on flora and fauna
All kinds of measures have been taken to preserve the flora and fauna in the area as much as possible. The demolition worker is working neatly around the existing trees, which are also protected by extra fencing.
Various bat protection measures have also been taken in the area, including various boxes on facades and bollard boxes. For the benefit of the bats, one wing will also remain until mid-July 2021 in order to optimally provide for the transition into maternity roosts for bats. Finally, a bat tower will also be placed in the area.
