On October 16th, as a celebration of the UN World Food Day, TGD brings you an exciting lunch lecture: Food Roots.
This International Day aims to raise awareness for fighting hunger whilst reducing agricultural environmental impact. Yes, agriculture is responsible for 25% of global CO2 emissions!
The world is on the verge of a technological revolution of food production and consumption. The flaws of the current food system has risen new ways of farming (agroforestry or hydroponics) and buying (consumer cooperative or blockchain).
The Netherlands has been the main stage of these new initiatives since the country is the 2nd largest food exporter and 1st in agriculture knowledge.
In this lunch lecture, you will hear more about the state of this technological revolution, what still needs to be done and how you can be a part of it!
Thomas Fransen, founder of the new TU/e student team FoodRoots, is developing a blockchain technology to facilitate food business and information system.
