EuroTeQ Collider@TU/e Spring 2023

In our spring edition of the Collider we opened-up registration to all EuroTeQ partners via the Course Catalogue. We believe there is great added value in bringing learners together from different countries and institutions. The structure of the collider will allow you to form and participate in interdisciplinary, international teams of students in collaboration with professionals.

Together you will work on open-ended challenge-based projects centered around the theme “Leave no Waste behind”. This experience will enable you to develop a broad set of soft skills aiming at improving your capabilities to: a) offer an innovative and entrepreneurial solution that is not only technical, and; b) address uncertainty and acting while being out of your comfort zone.

At the end of the collider all participants will pitch their results and have a chance to join the EuroTeQaThon. The ultimate goal of these events is to collectively develop solutions and actionable opportunities to create a desired future.

For the first time the collider is open to both master students and any bachelor student who completed at least two years of the bachelor program, each using a different course code in Osiris.

Public Lighting

Today's solutions for (artificial) lighting have a negative impact on our planet, nature, and even our own well-being. On the other hand the right lighting has a positive effect on how we feel, enables us to do all kinds of activities after sunset and strongly influences the atmosphere. Wouldn't it be great if we can have the positive effects of light without the negative impact on our environment?

Photonics

This challenge proposes you to embark in an adventure to find where a brand new technology can be an added value in our daily lives. Photonic Integrated Circuits are a technology that harness the power of light to create energy-efficient, faster, and more accurate microchips. It enables new functionalities to achieve a more sustainable world. Do you want to be part of this revolution?

Green Events

The drives for TU/e to do something about the amount of waste is particularly based on climate and people (wellbeing). We feel the need to do something about global warming and we want to make sure the world is a nice place for future generations too. The ambition of TU/e is to become a fully circular university, without harmful emissions, without waste and without harming nature. How can we also make events a celebration for the Earth?

Car Repair

When painting a car we produce lots of polluted plastic. Is there another solution instead of using the plastic or is there a solution to reuse the plastic? In the same repair process we replace a lot of parts (e.g. bumpers) because they were damaged or we had to replace because of safety rules. Can we use this amount of waste to make it circular or to use it as a raw material for a new product?

Space Satellite

As the space industry continues to advance, the space debris issue becomes more pressing. As Aster, a student team from the Eindhoven University of Technology, we are working to bridge the gap between Eindhoven and space by designing an affordable cube satellite. However, once our mission is complete, our cube satellite will become space debris, adding to the growing problem. How can we design a sustainable and innovative retrieval system for our Aster cube satellite after its mission ends to prevent it from becoming space debris?

Save the date!

Mark your calendars: the EuroTeQaThon will take place on June 10-12 at CTU in Prague, Czech Republic. You can find more information and a teaser video of the previous EuroTeQaThon on the EuroTeQ website here.
