In January Maral Mahdad presented a keynote to Flanders’ FOOD. She emphasized unlocking business opportunities through technology uptakes such as fermentation, extract enrichment, and microbiome analysis. Maral stressed varied valorization strategies, including collaboration, innovative repurposing, and forming alliances to be destructive for a well-functioning circular agrifood system. Addressing unresolved pricing issues and consumer demand remains a focus, with ongoing research efforts. Discussions with circularity experts also provided inspiration for future endeavors.
