13. What is Taverne Amendment?

Article 25fa of the Dutch Copyright Act (Taverne Amendment) allows researchers to share the final published version of short scientific works such as journal articles, conference proceedings and book chapters, via the institutional repository 6 months after first publication, even if they were published behind a paywall.  

“The maker of a short scientific work for which the research has been financed in whole or in part by Dutch public funds is entitled to make that work available to the public free of charge following a reasonable period after its first publication, provided that clear reference is made to the source of the first publication.” (Article 25fa of the Copyright Act, known as Taverne Amendment
