Christos Pantazidis joined as new Postdoc

April 1, 2023

Christos joined the Polymer Performance Materials group at the Eindhoven University of Technology as a Postdoc researcher in April. His main work revolves around the preparation and characterization of high-performance and closed-loop recyclable organic aerogels. His research is mainly focused on new synthetic pathways for organic aerogels with high-end characteristics, while investigating the relationship between the material properties and their chemical structure.

Christos Pantazidis completed his studies in Chemistry (BSc), Polymer Science (MSc) and PhD research in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece). During his MSc studies, he became familiar with anionic polymerization techniques to prepare polymers of complex macromolecular architecture (diblock and miktoarm star copolymers), containing non – miscible blocks. He subsequently investigated the effect of macromolecular architecture on the induced microphase separation. His PhD research, mainly involved the usage of controlled radical polymerization (NMP, RAFT) to produce solid polymer electrolytes for Li-ion batteries. Once again, he experimented with macromolecular architecture (linear, star copolymers) and polymer blending, to create systems of structural robustness where fast ion transport could also be promoted.
