3rd Dutch Symposium on Terahertz Science and Technology

April 4, 2024

The Center for Terahertz Science and Technology (CTSTe) and the TU Delft Terahertz Sensing group organized the 3rd Dutch Symposium on Terahertz Science and Technology on the TU Delft campus on January 25th 2024.

A great event with around 60 visitors, with talks from academia and industry, a poster session, a panel session, a lab tour and opportunities to network while enjoying some drinks and snacks.

Keynotes from Dirk Nüssler (German Fraunhofer Institute FHR) and from Raf Roovers (NXP Semiconductors) demonstrated the applications in terahertz sensing and communication and their relevance to industry and society. Elena Saenz from the European Space Agency in Noordwijk gave an overview of terahertz technology developments for current and future space missions. Klaas-Jan Tielrooij (TU/e), Akiro  Endo (TU Delft) and Andrei Kirilyuk (Radboud University Nijmegen), presented on the more fundamental topics of quantum materials for terahertz photonics, superconducting spectrometers and terahertz analysis of magnetic materials.

Under the guidance of Jaime Gomez Rivas (TU/e) a panel discussed the opportunity to create a Dutch Terahertz Network – a topic that will be followed up.

We then had a great lab visit to the advanced setups of the Terahertz Sensing group where their research projects were introduced with exciting demonstrations.
