With her expertise in membrane materials and processes, Prof. dr. ir. Kitty Nijmeijer develops membranes (filters) for water treatment and the production of clean drinking water from surface and ground water.
This involves the removal of larger components like viruses and bacteria from water but also desalination and the development of membranes to remove increasing amounts of micropollutants such as medicines, pesticides and hormones.
