Her bachelor's thesis not only captivated the audience but also impressed the professional jury, securing both accolades for her. What makes her achievement even more remarkable is that she competed with a bachelor's thesis in a field dominated by master's theses.

In her thesis, 'Defining and Managing a Core Assortment of Spare Parts,' Ylja researched at Vanderlande. She advised the organization on improving their spare parts inventory by adding critical spare parts, boosting machine uptime. Ylja created a decision-making framework for classifying spare parts, applied to one of their key systems.

Zumbul Atan, Ylja's mentor during her bachelor research and now overseeing her as a master's student, shares her pride, stating, "Ylja's award and research reflect not just her dedication but also her talent. Her achievements make us proud and showcase her commitment to excellence. I would like to thank my PhD student Bhoomica Nataraja for her amazing guidance."

ASML sponsored the SLF Graduation Award, and Ylja received a prize of 750 euros along with a 150-euro dinner voucher. In addition, she now holds a seat on the jury, allowing her to contribute to the evaluation of submissions for the 2024 summit.
