I want to withdraw or defer my admission. What do I need to do?

Of course, it is sad when you will not be able to study in Eindhoven the coming year. The good news is that your admission is valid for 18 months, so you can use this again for the next intake. Payments are not required to defer your admission to next year. Deferring your admission is possible for all Bachelor and Master programs at TU/e.

However, please be aware that if you have applied for a Bachelor selection program, then you will have to go through the entire selection procedure again. This means that if you have been admitted to a Bachelor selection program, we cannot guarantee your place for the next academic year, as this would depend on your result from the selection. The Bachelor programs with selection for the 2023-2024 academic year are: Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences; Computer Science and Engineering; Industrial Design and Mechanical Engineering.

Below you will find the steps you need to take:

1. Reject the confirmation statement and enter the reason why you want to defer or withdraw.
If you already accepted the confirmation statement, then you can skip this step.

2. Cancel/withdraw your request for enrollment for this this academic year through your Studielink account.
Remember the passwords to enter your Studielink account! This account can be re-used for your next request for enrollment. Do not create a new Studielink account because this usually leads to problems due to having two (very similar) accounts.

For non-EEA students: When step 1 and 2 have been completed, you will be contacted within a few days regarding what information you need to provide in order to receive the refund of the remainder of the guarantee fee and, if applicable, the proof of financial means. As we are processing a very large number of payments, it may take several weeks before the money is in your account again. Please also see the information here on refund of the Guarantee Fee and Proof of Financial Means.

The following steps should be taken, if you would like to postpone the start of your studies to September 2024.

3. Submit a new request for enrollment through Studielink for the September 2023 intake.
You can submit a new request in the following link from October 1, 2023 when admission is opened for the next intake: https://www.studielink.nl/. Our advice is to submit a new request at the earliest possible moment.

4. Fill in the information and upload the required documents in the second part of your application in Osiris again.
However, instead of paying the application fee again, please upload a document that simply states 'DEFERMENT'. The email ‘important second part of your application’ with the link and login codes will be sent again to you after you have submitted your new request for enrollment in Studielink.

5. After you have submitted the online application form in Osiris please notify us through email.
Inform us that you already received an admission, that you deferred your admission last year and have taken all the (above mentioned) necessary steps. You can send the email to io@tue.nl and enter in the subjects Deferment, your name and student number (for example: DEFERMENT - John Smith - studentnumber 123456).

NOTE: do not enter a new application directly through Osiris without entering a new request in Studielink first. Deferment is not possible without taking all the above-mentioned steps.

After you have taken all the necessary steps and we received your email we will be more than happy to process your deferment!
Your file will of course not have to go through the whole assessment process again. We will fast track it through our database and send you a new admission once this has been done.

If you have any questions or doubts, please do not hesitate to contact us and we hope to be able to welcome you next year.
