Enrollment for Software Carpentries training opens February 16th at 12:00 pm

On February 16th at midday the enrollment for the Software Carpentries training will open. This is a four-mornings event (March 16, 17, 23, 24 – 9 am to 1 pm) that covers the core basic skills needed to be work reproducibly and productively in research.

About this event

This workshop is open to all researchers associated to the member institutions of 4TU.ResearchData (i.e. TU/e, TU Delft, University of Twente), but preference will be given to TU/e researchers.

A Software Carpentry workshop is a hands-on, four-mornings event that covers the core basic skills needed to be work reproducibly and productively in research.

In this four-mornings workshop you will learn how to:

  • Automate tasks with the Unix shell
  • Programme in Python (introduction to syntax, basic plotting)
  • Use version control with Git

The workshop will include short tutorials alternating with practical exercises, so please make sure you have a laptop/desktop with a Mac, Linux, or Windows operating system (not a tablet, Chromebook, etc.). The workshops will be online and are sponsored by the 4TU.ResearchData and TU/e Data Management and Library, and organized in collaboration with The Carpentries.

This is an introductory course, so you don't need to have any previous knowledge of the tools that will be presented at the workshop. For example, do you know how to use the terminal? Do you know how to read tabular data in Python? If you don't, come and join us!

You can sign up for this course through Eventbrite from February 16th at midday (12 pm).
