The creation and implementation of technological innovations within organizations is a delicate process that requires insight and knowledge of the most important ingredient: the human factor. An understanding of this is crucial for future leaders in technological innovation. Innovation Management’s Leadership & Organizing Innovation track therefore offers a unique opportunity to align the technological, organizational and personal factors that enable excellent innovative performance.

What will you learn in Leadership & Organizing Innovation?

To achieve superior performance in a sustainable manner and to secure a competitive advantage, the generation and implementation of innovative ideas is key to contemporary organizing. At the same time, leading and organizing innovation are among the most challenging aspects for leaders. In this track, students therefore learn to integrate psychological insights and engineering science in the various stages of an innovation process so that organizations can excel in innovative and sustainable endeavors. This includes an introduction to managing and supporting people such that they can flourish in various innovation contexts, including open innovation, R&D teams and AI-supported innovation in a high-tech environment. After completing the Leadership & Organizing Innovation track, students will have state-of-the-art knowledge regarding the importance of the human factor in the innovation process of high-tech and knowledge-intensive organizations. Students will develop research skills that enable them to examine and evaluate current innovation processes and learn how to apply those insights to design management interventions in order to boost performance, sustainability and innovation excellence.

When to choose the track Leadership & Organizing Innovation?

Thanks to its unique combination of engineering science with organizational psychology and management research, this track aims to attract a diverse collection of students. This includes those with a technical/engineering background who are looking to further develop their knowledge and skills in management and innovation leadership, as well as students from various backgrounds who aspire to a management/leadership position after graduation.

How you will learn?

TU/e is located in Brainport – Europe’s most innovative technology region – and this track therefore offers many opportunities to interact with leading companies and learn about the challenges of creating, managing and implementing innovations. This includes site visits, organizational challenges, research projects and guest lectures. To ensure that students feel supported throughout their master’s program and make well-informed decisions, Innovation Management also makes use of a mentor system. An experienced lecturer and researcher will guide you in making choices on elective courses, studying abroad and the graduation project. This region, program and mentoring system all enable students to tailor their education to their skills and interests with a view to their long-term future.
