Are you looking to make a difference in the world with your creative technological solutions? When you enroll in our Industrial Design master’s degree program, you will be empowered to achieve real change. You will look beyond the traditional considerations of form and function to integrate emerging technologies, user experience, data processing and interaction design.

You can choose to translate new technologies into useful everyday products and systems, or to focus on innovating on a community level, aimed at solving major societal issues. Curious about ID? During the "Demo Days" on 13 December 2024 and 6 June 2025, our students will present their projects.

In addition, you are welcome to join one of our students for a day (or part of a day). The Open Day for TU/e Master's programs is on 11 February 2025. There is an online Open Day on 24 May 2025.

Moreover, we are offering tours of the TU/e exposition during the Dutch Design Week (17-29 October, 2024). You can register for all these activities via MyStart@TU/e.

Self-directed education

Ever since its foundation in 2001, the Faculty of Industrial Design has been working with a unique self-directed and competence-based education model. From day one, you are encouraged to develop your own vision and professional identity as a designer. There are only two compulsory courses. You compose the rest of your study program yourself, based on your vision and ambitions. Design projects form the backbone of the study program. Read more about the course structure.

This educational model produces unique, enterprising designers, entrepreneurs and researchers. Our alumni stand out because of their pro-active, hands-on attitude, where prototyping is an essential part of the design and research process. Read more about your opportunities after graduation.

Intensive coaching

During your studies, you will be supported by a range of professionals: designers, researchers, project coaches, mentors, teachers and experts from the field. They will inspire you to look further, think more critically and develop in the direction that suits you. You will often do projects in collaboration with an external commissioning client.
