Course structure

The AIES mastertrack program take 2 years, with 4 quartiles per year. During these two years, you will follow core and specialization courses, electives and professional development courses, possibly do an internship and carry out your final graduation project.
The program is taught in English.

Electives

You can choose from a range of elective courses presenting state-of-the-art, specialist knowledge on topics currently being researched in our research groups. These electives are designed to prepare you for your final graduation project.

You are not restricted to any subjects. You may use your elective options to study technical or non-technical topics of your choice to broaden your perspective so you can also choose courses from other departments at TU/e, from other universities, and even from universities abroad. For this, an approval of our Examination Committee is needed.

Professional development

You will be given training and opportunities to develop your general professional capabilities throughout your program. An essential part will be a programming training using state-of-the-art toolboxes and real world data. You will also learn how to formulate a research question to conduct literature review and to communicate research results.  During your graduation project, you will learn how to write and present scientific information at an academic level.

Graduation Project

The program concludes with a research project in which you prove yourself as an AIES engineer. During the project, you will use what you have learnt and the skills you have developed to create new knowledge and designs. The result of the project could be a new product, a tool, a scientific journal publication, a presentation at an international conference or a patent. There will be opportunities to carry out your graduation project with one of our industrial partners in the region or abroad.
