Hereby, her research focussed on postharvest loss and waste throughout the nutritional value chains of two crops in Uganda. For this purpose she spend some time in Uganda conducting field research. Amongst others, this experience triggered her interest in conducting further research in the context of Africa, particularly value chains connecting Africa to the global North. Previously she obtained her Bachelor's degree in European Studies from Maastricht University as well.
