About the theme
With many buildings and complex processes, our energy demand is high. We have already taken significant steps to reduce the amount of energy consumed. We are making use of innovative techniques so as to save even more energy while at once making a greater contribution to the generation of clean energy.
Since 2010, the use of electricity decreases on a yearly basis. This is due to changes in buildings such as renovation and demolition and actively monitoring and steering our use of energy. In 2023 we reached the level of 2019 again because of the renovation of the Neuron building (free of gas) and the addition of the new Qubit building.
Our Vision for 2050 and Strategic Goals for 2030
We use our own knowledge, expertise and technologies to ensure that as much renewable energy as possible is generated on our campus. We use as little energy as possible and if we generate more than we need immediately, we ensure synergy with our environment. We actively involve our students in the development of solutions for future sustainable energy supply challenges, we stimulate research and function as role models that inspire others.
