Companies that deliver services (like banking, insurance, IT, healthcare, consulting and energy) offer value propositions that are primarily intangible, such as customer service, management, advice, knowledge, design, data and experiences. Advanced economies of developed countries are characterized by a significant share of the economic output produced by these companies. Operations Management and Logistics’ Smart Services track therefore focuses on state-of-the art methods, techniques and tools for designing intelligent, value-driven, high-quality and cost-effective service solutions that meet customer demands.

What you will learn as part of the Smart Services track

Students of the Smart Services track are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to systematically integrate business goals, processes, data, people and innovative digital technologies. The main topics within this include service engineering, AI-driven decision support, digitally-enabled business models, business process management, digital transformation, process mining, enterprise architecture and human performance. The Smart Services track provides students with a strong methodological basis, scientific operational domain knowledge on services, a focus on relevant research methods (such as artificial intelligence) and competency in the design of smart services. By the end of the track, students will have developed themselves as global citizens through meaningful interactions with international staff and students, as well as the option to go abroad for an international semester.

When to choose the Smart Services track

Are you interested in services that are characterized by their capacity to leverage data, automation and connectivity in order to deliver enhanced and personalized experiences to users?  Are you ready to make them more efficient and responsive? Would you like to gain a deeper understanding of how these services can be designed, developed and improved? If so, Smart Services may be the track for you.

How you will learn

TU/e is located in Brainport – Europe’s most innovative technology region – and this track therefore offers many opportunities to interact with leading companies. This includes site visits, organizational challenges, research projects and guest lectures. To ensure that students feel supported throughout their master’s program and make well-informed decisions, Smart Services also makes use of a mentor system. From the early months of the program onward, an experienced lecturer and researcher will guide you in making choices on elective courses, studying abroad and the graduation project. This region, program and mentoring system all enable students to tailor their education to their skills and interests with a view to their long-term future.
