Open Government Act (Woo)

The Open Government Act (Woo) governs the right of citizens to information held by the government. The Woo replaced the Open Government Act (Wob) on May 1, 2022.

Anyone has the right to submit a request to an administrative body, such as the Executive Board of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), for disclosure of public information. This must be information that the TU/e already possesses and that has been recorded in documents. Information made public in response to a Woo request is in principle accessible to everyone.

If you wish to receive documents that have not yet been made public and that could fall within the scope of the Woo, you may submit a Woo request. A Woo request is addressed to the Executive Board and can be submitted in two ways:

  1. Digitally at woo@tue.nl
  2. In writing via the following address:

    Eindhoven University of Technology
    Attn: Executive Board - Legal Affairs Department
    Groene Loper 3
    5612 AE Eindhoven

The content of the Woo request

A request for information to the board of a public institution such as TU/e is subject to certain (legal) requirements (art. 4:2 Awb jo 4.1 Woo). The more information you provide to us and the more specifically you describe your request, the faster your request can be processed by us.

Please submit your request preferably in a letter attached to your e-mail addressed to the TU/e Executive Board/Judicial Affairs. Please include at least the following information:

  • Your full name and title, if any;
  • Your full address;
  • Your phone number;
  • Your e-mail address;
  • The date you are making your request;
  • That it is a request under the Woo;
  • As specific as possible a description of the information you wish to receive, the matter or related document whose disclosure you desire;
  • Your signature.

For questions regarding making a request or the status of a request already made, please contact woo@tue.nl

Also, all Woo requests with associated Woo decisions will be published on this web page.

A Woo request and the Woo decision will be posted on the website only if the Woo decision is not objected to, or after completion of the objection and possible appeal process.
