TU/e Sustainable Events: Embrace the Change!
Exciting news is on the horizon! As we step into 2024, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is rolling out an updated Sustainable Events Policy, and we want you to be a part of it.
What's the Buzz About?
We believe events should be more than just gatherings; they should be moments of connection, inspiration, recognition, and entertainment. With people and the planet in mind, we're reshaping our events to be social, green, and fair. Yes, it's time for a positive change, and we're making it happen!
Seven Themes, Two Focus Areas
Our Sustainable Events Policy revolves around seven key themes, with special attention on Circular and Recycled Resources and Food and Beverages for 2024. It's our way of creating a lasting impact on sustainability. Here's a sneak peek into what to expect:
Food and Beverages:
- More vegetarian (and vegan) options – at least 50% of the menu.
- Smart measures to prevent food waste.
- Local suppliers and Dutch ingredients taking center stage.
Circular and Recycled Resources:
- Hard cups with a return system for a greener sipping experience.
- No more single-use plastics for the distribution of food and beverages; let's champion reuse!
- Separate waste streams behind the bar/ at food trucks – let's get serious about recycling.
- Communicate digitally and minimize printing materials (or make it timeless so it can be re-used!).
Why Should You Care?
Not only are we committed to making TU/e events eco-friendly, but we're also adding a dash of friendly competition! If you are an internal event-organizer, your event could be crowned the "Most Sustainable TU/e Event of the Year," earning you a €500 voucher to make your next event even greener. It's a win-win for everyone and our planet.
