‘The belly-black-box: can we win the fight against cancer?’

Job Saris

My name is Job Saris, 29 years old, born and raised in Amsterdam. I have obtained my medical degree in 2018 at the University of Amsterdam. I am currently pursuing a PhD project at the Tytgat Institute for Liver and Intestinal Research, an affiliated laboratory of the department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology of the Amsterdam UMC. My primary focus is on the peritoneal immune system in patients suffering gastrointestinal diseases. I am passionate about my work and aim to translate my findings back to the clinic and help the patients. I am a massive fan of sports, soccer in particular – in which I still actively participate on a weekly base. I foresee a career in Gastroenterology in which I will, among others, be lecturing students. Something I have already embarked on by mentoring medical honors students. Famelab will help me to obtain the skills and knowledge about science communication useful for patient care, scientific and educational purposes.
