Monday October 5, 2020 to Friday October 9, 2020Location
OnlineIn the week of October 5-9 we will be celebrating Diversity Week 2020!
All TU/e employees and students are warmly invited!
The theme of the Diversity Week 2020 is ‘breaking taboos’ to familiarize our students and staff more with the subjects of racism, internationalization, mental well-being and sexual orientation.
“High quality education and science flourishes in an environment where everyone feels welcome, safe and valued for who they are and what they do. TU/e aspires to be a diverse and inclusive community. A community that embraces and nurtures talent, irrespective of nationality, gender or social background. Talent is the foundation of our success in education and science. But we acknowledge that diversity and inclusion don’t always go hand in hand. Therefore, we put significant efforts into raising awareness of the value of diversity and inclusivity, for example with the TU/e Diversity Week. We encourage everybody at TU/e to participate in it, to get informed, to learn new insights, and to get inspired.”
- Frank Baaijens, rector TU/e
“Regardless the cultural background, gender, disability, or sexual preference, everyone has the right to participate and be an integral part of our organization. We strive for a world that is divers and inclusive and in which you feel safe. But still much has to be done. The diversity week gives us the chance to talk with each other about how we experience being members of this organization (which might not always be positive) and to understand the issues that less represented groups are confronted with. The goal is to create a safe place for everyone so that TU/e can profit from its talent. “
- Eva Demerouti, Chief Diversity Officer TU/e
Program
During each lunch break (12:30-13:30 hrs.) we will have interviews via Teams with staff members and students about their experiences in several areas of diversity. This will be live-streamed, and participants will have the opportunity to be actively involved in the discussions.
