PROJECT OF TENDONS AND LIGAMENTS

TRIANKLE: 3D Bioprinted personalized scaffolds for tissue regeneration of ankle joint

In this project, the aim is to create both collagen and gelatin based 3D-printed scaffolds for tendon and cartilage injuries. Custom-made bioreactors, that can mimic the mechanical loading that tendons and cartilage experience in the body, will be used as a tool to study the behavior of stem cells in these scaffolds (morphology, phenotype, matrix production) and explore the potential of these constructs. Using this in vitro mechanobiological validation tool, we aim to reduce the use of animal studies needed.  This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement No 952981.
