Are you a PhD student working with data science or AI in general? Could generative modeling potentially play an important part in your projects? Then be sure to participate in the Generative Modeling Summer School! This year's edition will take place from June 24 to 28, right here at the TU/e campus. The Summer School offers a unique multi-day program, in which participants will be taught by internationally renowned faculty as well as invited lecturers, who will give tutorials.
In particular, the program is designed to accommodate both students doing methodological data science research (e.g., machine learning, statistics, and AI) and students doing applied data science research (e.g., bioinformatics, computational physics, computational chemistry, and computational social science). Furthermore, the course will also be open to postdocs and more senior researchers from the industry as continual training in AI.
The first three days will be taught by the main lecturers, of which Jakub Tomczak is one - Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science and a PI leading the Generative Artificial Intelligence team. He organizes the Summer School in close cooperation with Pierre-Alexandre Mattei (Inria Sophia Antipolis) and Jes Frellsen (Technical University of Denmark). During the last two days of the program, invited lecturers will present a wide range of tutorials.
The event's organizers aim for selecting a group of about 130 participants. The selection process will be based on the submitted material and will be executed by the organization. Background (e.g., expertise, affiliation) and experience will be considered. The following are expected of participants: a good familiarity with Python and PyTorch, and a basic knowledge of calculus, linear algebra, probability and statistics.
