My job is to analyze the behavior of website visitors and make improvement proposals based on the findings

How do people observe, and how do they think?

After graduating I started work as a Usability and Optimization Specialist at an internet consultancy. My job was to help companies improve the usability of their websites and to carry out online testing among website visitors to get a better understanding of their behavior and make improvements as a result.

Now I’m Conversion Manager at the HEMA retail chain, and my job is to analyze the behavior of website visitors and make improvement proposals based on the findings. My analyses help the HEMA online marketeers to understand visitor behavior and as a result to take decisions about the marketing strategy.

In my present job I find I’m still benefiting from what I learned during my studies. If you want to understand the interaction between a website and the visitors and be able to make improvements, you need to know a lot about consumer behavior: how do people observe, and how do they think? I also find the multidisciplinary working that I learned during my studies useful. At that time I found the group assignments very instructive. I learned a lot, because I was able to share my knowledge with others.
