I'm creating a less stressful hospital environment with nature sounds

My project really helps people feel better

Being admitted to a hospital is stressful. On top of that, the environment itself is stressful: people cannot organize the place as they wish to, and they cannot leave. Being in nature improves your mood, cognitive performance, and stress level. I’m researching the long-term restorative effect of listening to nature sounds indoors. My project is a simple, low-cost technical solution that may really help people feel better. I’m figuring out when which kinds of sounds help best. This is why I chose Human-Technology Interaction: I wanted to help make technology more meaningful for people. Studying at TU/e is very interdisciplinary, and you get to work with people in different departments. The program at TU/e taught me to approach problems in various ways. If you come up with a good idea, people will really push you to try it. In the future, I’d like to use that experience to start my own business.
