Pooyan Adibi received his Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Sheikh-Bahaee University in 2009, and completed his Master’s degree majoring in e-commerce, in Shiraz University in 2013. His master’s thesis was focused on recommender systems based on collaborative filtering methods, where he designed a new hybrid system to increase the accuracy of recommendations in order to detect the users’ change of interest during the time. After his studies, he worked as a full-stack developer for different companies, next to working as a freelancer on various web and mobile app based projects. Concurrently, he ran a start-up for developing a content management system for architectural companies to introduce their projects. Just before joining the ST PDEng program, he was collaborating in a startup aiming at the implementation of a data science platform application for data science teams called Rectified.
Shyam Akhter received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. She worked on optimization of queue scheduling mechanism in Wireless Multimedia Sensor Network as her Master’s thesis. As a Software Engineer, she joined Samsung R&D Institute Bangladesh, an overseas R&D center of Samsung Electronics. During her work tenure of 9 years, she worked on middleware and SDK development projects that targeted Samsung Smartphones, wearables, and PC, where she applied her expertise on the cloud, IoT, and SoC-specific software development. Later, she led a development team where she performed requirements and feasibility analysis, team management, communication with stakeholders, software design, and development based on specification. She was awarded Employee of The Year for her outstanding contributions to the company. In addition, she holds a US patent as a co-inventor on system enhancement for wearables. Her interests include software architecture and design, ubiquitous computing, and IoT security.
James Antoine has worked in the Caribbean technology space as a researcher, designer, developer, analyst, and consultant on various projects. These projects involved private and state sector organizations in the healthcare, agriculture, telecoms, and tourism industries. One recent highlight of his work was his role in guiding the design and development of a suite of cloud applications for medical records management for the Caribbean healthcare sector. James received his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine. He recently completed a Master’s degree in Data Science at University of Skövde, where his thesis focused on the application of Long Short Term Memory – Recurrent Neural Network (LSTM-RNN) models for real-time network Attack Intention Recognition (AIR) systems. His current interests revolve around the design and development of real-time intelligent systems with machine learning capabilities.
Hiba Binous earned her Bachelor's degree in Industrial Automation and Embedded Systems from the Higher Institute of Information and Communications Technologies, Tunisia, in 2018. She gained her Master’s degree in Electronic Systems and Communication Engineering, specialized in Automotive Embedded System from The National School of Electronics and Telecommunications of Sfax Tunisia in 2021 .Her Master’s thesis in Canada, entitled “IoT Mobility & E-Health System”, involved the design of smartwatch for fall detection and monitor health status of elderly and illness person. As part of her involvement in the community, Hiba is a member of an international organization, ENACTUS, which brings together student, academic, and business leaders who are committed, using the power of entrepreneurship, to improve the lives of those in need. Her main areas of interest are software design & architecture, internet of things (IOT), entrepreneurship, and machine learning. Her language skills include Arabic, French, English, and German.
Saeed Daneshpoor earned his B.Sc. degree in Software Engineering from Azad University, Iran. He pursued his M.Sc. studies in Software Engineering at Polytechnic University of Turin, Italy and graduated in 2019. His M.Sc. thesis titled "Development of the Prototype Information System Supporting Energy Efficiency Projects in the Cultural Heritage Buildings" integrated joint contributions from three departments. He joined the web development team of E-gate, one of the most pioneering and highly distinguished companies in Turin, as a full-stack developer in 2018. Saeed’s main career interests are interdisciplinary projects, software architecture & design, and project management.
Platon Dmitriev received a Bachelor degree in Software Systems and Technologies at Vladimir State University. After completing bachelor program he was developing a backend for fintech company “ServiceHub” in Russia. He built a python-based integration layer between ERP platform and cloud based service, and worked on a scoring model for assessing new company clients. Later he joined mobile gamedev company as an automation engineer to develop highload cloud-based solutions for human resource, developers and marketing teams. His interests in software are full stack web development, cloud computing, and machine learning.
Georgios Evangelou received his Bachelor’s & Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras (Greece) in 2020. He specialized in Electronics and Embedded Systems and served as a teaching assistant at the Digital Signal and Image Processing lab. He also participated in various projects, the most notable of which was the 2018 APS/URSI Student Design Contest (Boston, USA), where his team achieved 4th position globally. His main career experience is his 2½-year occupation as a R&D Engineer at Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems and Automation. There, Georgios worked in EU-funded industry projects as a full-stack developer designing and implementing a Task Planning and Execution system for Human-Robot Collaboration assembly lines. He was also a work-package leader and hosted discussions between academia and industry partners. His current interests include system architecture, software design, parallel computing, and project management.
Nandin-Erdene Ganbat received her Bachelor's degree in Health Information Technology from National University of Medical Science, Mongolia in 2018 and Master's diploma in Computer Science Irkutsk National Research Technical University, Russia in 2020. During her master study, her final thesis work titled “Integration of 1C application with Chatbot Telegram” was recognized as the winner at the 13th International Final Qualified Project on 1C contest 2020. After graduation she has worked in the industry in multiple roles e.g. as a programmer and system analyst at 1C-Forus and Machine Learning engineer and back-end developer at Dentsu Data Artist Mongol LLC. Her areas of interest include software architecture, healthcare and wellbeing technologies, and machine learning.
Haftom Hailu received his Bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from Mekelle Institute of Technology, Ethiopia. Then he received his Master’s degree in computer science from Saarland University, Germany. He carried out his master’s thesis project at CISPA Helmholtz center for information security. His thesis was “fake user detection in online social network” using node2ver, graph embeddings, and machine learning algorithms. He is interested in AI, IoT, Cyber security, and software architecture.
Lin Lyu graduated with honors from Northeastern University (China) with a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2018. She studied biomedical sensors and signals, medical image processing, data structure, and programming during her education. She also did an internship at Neusoft Corporation as a software engineer. She received her Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in 2021. During her master's studies, she specialized in cardiovascular biomechanics, transport physics, finite element analysis, and mathematical modeling. Her master's thesis, entitled "Iodinated Contrast Concentration transport in coronary vessels based on computational analysis of advection-diffusion equation," involved analyzing the Advection-Based Flow method and Transluminal Attenuation Flow Encoding method using computational simulations. Her interest is in combining biomedical engineering and software technology to explore more possibilities for healthcare domain.
Ahmed Oumer received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Haramaya university, Ethiopia. Then, he obtained his Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on Control Engineering from Addis Ababa University. For his Master's degree project, he worked on designing control systems for parallel robots and analyzing their performance. His interests are in software architecture, resource-constrained embedded software, and multidisciplinary systems design.
Pasha Porkar received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Information Technology Engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology in 2014 and 2017 respectively. During his Bachelor’s study, Pasha had an internship at Hagen University, Germany and worked on the smart office project as a developer. He has ten years of work experience as a software designer, developer and technical expert in Azad University and Hezardastan Group. His main interests are Software Design, Artificial Intelligence, Project Management, and Cyber Security.
Nikolaos (Nick) Roussos received his Bachelor and Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece in 2020, where he graduated first in his class with honors. Throughout the course of his five-year studies, Nick focused on Electronics and Embedded Systems as well as Software Technology. His Master’s thesis, “Architectures and implementations of the neural network LeNet-5 in FPGAs,” involved the design and realization of a hardware accelerator for image recognition using FPGA technology. During the last year of his studies, Nick worked as an R&D Engineer on Embedded Systems for one year. Nowadays, his main interests lie in Embedded Systems and Automotive Systems.
Faezeh Sattari received her Bachelor's in computer engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology and her Master's in Information Technology of Engineering from the Amirkabir University of Technology. She was an exchange student during her Master's at Passau University in Germany. As her Master's thesis, Faezeh worked on Data science for representing managemental solutions of customer churn. Faezeh did her internship in the Huawei company as a software engineer. She also had the same position in Digikala company. In addition, she worked as an ERP specialist and developer in Golrang Industrial Group. Her main interests are Software Architecture, System Thinking, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. She also is interested in finding management solutions for companies.
Mayank Sharma received his Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Manipal University Jaipur, India, in 2017. After that, he completed his Master’s Degree in Software Engineering at the University of Melbourne, Australia, in 2020. He completed his final year team project with the University of Melbourne Audiology Department titled “Paediatric speech, spatial and qualities (SSQ) of hearing scale”. It involved developing a web application for administering questionnaires and evaluating hearing disabilities in children using the SSQ scale, replacing the old paper-based concept. He and his team came runners-up in the University of Melbourne Endeavour Discipline Award for the team project. Additionally, he worked as a student supervisor at the University of Melbourne, supervising and guiding student teams for their final IT projects. Nowadays, his interests include software architecture & design, multi-domain systems and entrepreneurship.
Arnab Kumar Shil received his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh in 2012. Later he received his Master’s degree from the same university in 2013. In his Master’s thesis, Arnab worked on identifying users’ demography and language based on their social media feed data using supervised learning. During his eight years of work in the software industry, he developed a scalable messaging system, CI/CD pipeline, data pipeline, supply chain related applications, etc., using microservice architectures. In his spare time, he writes technical blogs at his personal blog site and collaborates in Open Source projects. He also contributes to Stack Overflow and is a top 1% contributor there. Nowadays, his interest lies in advancing technologies related to Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, DataScience, and Green Energy.
Renisa Suryahadikusumah earned her Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the Indonesia University of Education in 2014. She implemented AI for computer player optimization in Scrabble Games as her final project. During her study, she was an assistant lecturer for algorithm and programming subjects. In addition, she worked on several freelance projects in web development and a game-based learning platform. Her first career was as a software engineer at an Information Technology consultant and developed an enterprise risk management system in both .NET and Java versions. She moved to a state-owned electricity company, PT PLN (Persero), in 2016 as an assistant analyst of application development to provide solutions for the generation, transmission, and distribution sectors. From 2019, she shifted to a Data Warehouse field and deepened her knowledge in Hadoop technology and data pipeline as a data engineer. Her interests are artificial intelligence, software architecture and design, and project management.
Moslem Teymoori received his Bachelor’s degree in Software Technology in Iran. He obtained his Master’s degree in Communication and Computer Networks Engineering with a focus on backend development, switching technologies, data centers, and internet traffic sniffing from Turin Polytechnic University in Torino, Italy. During his master study, he kept himself close to high-tech industries by working as a software intern and visiting a few start-ups. His master’s thesis was linked with industry in collaboration with the Polytechnic University and funded by the Italian government. In this thesis, he worked on non-structured data, data aggregation using Java language and MongoDb Java driver, data warehouse creation, and data visualization using BI dashboard tools. After graduation, he worked as a Java backend developer in a well-known company for 2 years in Italy. Moslem’s main interests are software architecture design, mobile application development, and data science.
Shabnam ZarepoorNiari received her Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering from the University of Tehran, Iran in 2015 and her Master's degree in the same field from the Sharif University of Technology, Iran in 2017. She worked as a full-stack developer in SystemGroup company for three years, which is a large-scale ERP company in Iran. After that, she joined Informatics Services Corporation as a Back-End developer that focuses on designing and developing national bank and payment systems in Iran. She also had work experience as a freelancer developer working on IoT projects. She is mainly interested in software architecture and software engineering in practice.
