In the final months of my Masters, while the clock was hurriedly ticking for me in juggling between finalizing my dissertation and finding a job, one day I stumbled upon an opening for a position for PDEng trainee through my current supervisor, Dr. Roel Loonen, in LinkedIn. I was a bit familiarized with the research group and some of their projects in energy-efficient buildings. The most exciting part for me in the job description was a promising avenue to enhance my technical skills along with augmenting my other skills in the domain of project management, entrepreneurship and finance. Though I had been living as an expat in Italy and travelled in Europe a bit in pre-pandemic times, it still took me time initially to adapt myself in transitioning between two almost diametrically opposite working cultures and ways of living life. I am currently working on a design project in collaboration with the National Archives of the Netherlands to develop a decision support tool that can facilitate experts from different disciplines in the designing phases of archive buildings.
