The device is used to crush brittle particles between two diamond anvils that are moved towards each other at a constant adjustable speed. During the process the displacement and force are constantly measured and the crushing process can be monitored visually via a microscope that looks through one of the anvils.
- Relative displacement of the anvils:
- Travel: 500 µm, resolution: 0.1 µm
- Speed: 0.1 – 1000 µm/s
- Power measurement: Range: 0 - 50 N, resolution: 0.5 mN
