Mobility Experts Join Forces at Automotive Week 2017

During the Automotive Week 2017, held from Sunday 26 until Friday 31 March in Helmond at the Automotive Campus, (inter)national mobility experts will join forces to jointly discuss how our future mobility can be organized. The developments in the automotive, telecom and Internet world are moving very fast. The traveller is constantly connected to the Internet and expects road authorities, transport operators and service providers to go along with these trends. At the end of March various stakeholders from the Netherlands, Europe and the US will gather in Helmond to learn from each other and to better respond to the changing demand in mobility.

International cooperation
This year’s theme of the Automotive Week is ‘Where Smart Mobility meets Traffic’. In Helmond, authorities, industry partners and research companies prepare themselves for major changes in the organization of our mobility needs. Public and private parties, national and international, are all working together under the motto "Learning by doing" with the aim to stimulate innovations and learn from each other.

Programme offers something for everyone
The 3rd edition of Automotive Week offers an even more international programme than previous years and has a targeted setup which means that each day is dedicated to a specific audience and has a specific central theme. The official language is English, except for the public day and the road authorities day. Registration is open until Friday 24 March via the website www.automotiveweek.nl. Here is a summary of the week:

Sunday 26 March | Public Day
The Automotive Week starts with a spectacular day for the public including various demonstrations on the A270 motorway as well as at the Automotive Campus ground. Drive along in smart and sustainable vehicles, try simulators, experiment with technology and take part in various workshops (comments during the demos will be in Dutch, the same goes for the workshops). The day starts with the e-Parade, a Guiness Book of Records attempt to brake the world’s record of longest procession of 100% electric vehicles (577 vehicles).

Monday 27 March | (Inter)national Mobility Experts
Various (international) stakeholders from the mobility and automotive industry will gather in Helmond to discuss mobility trends and further international cooperation. During the day we will focus on testing in practice, deploying solutions and next steps for cooperative and automated driving after the Declaration of Amsterdam was signed in April 2016.

Tuesday 28 March | (Inter)national Mobility Experts
The Intertraffic day starts with a summit ‘When Traffic and Automotive join forces’ in which we will discuss what connectivity means for our current traffic and mobility management and how the worlds of automotive and mobility can cooperate more closely. Which new mobility opportunities can be created if the traffic and automotive industry join forces? The summit is followed by various demonstrations and best practices of European projects.

Wednesday 29 March | Involving the User
Wednesday is all about the (professional) user. Get inspired by new mobility trends and learn all about what drives the (professional) user. What can we learn from each other when we look at knowledge, attitude and behaviour? How do we create awareness for mobility innovations? And how can we influence the demand on mobility?

Thursday 30 March | Road Authorities
This day offers the perfect opportunity to jointly discuss challenges, opportunities and possibilities of Smart Mobility. It will be a day for and by road authorities in which we focus on national developments and awareness. Moreover, it provides road authorities with concrete tools to develop Smart Mobility (sessions are held in Dutch only).

Friday 31 March | Education, Students & Research
The final day of Automotive Week 2017 is targeted at students, teachers and researchers. Learning from each other is the central theme of this Education Students Research day full of workshops and demonstrations. What about a solar car for the whole family, a car that runs on formic acid, aerodynamics, HMI, electric power train, BMS, green mobility, or even self-driving cars. Visitors can pick up information on projects and studies and during the day numerous top-notch research projects from technical universities and Schools of Automotive Engineering will be presented.
