Finger NMR - Demo NMR

This NMR machine was especially build for demo purposes. However it is also used to help students to learn the basic principles of NMR imaging. Using this machine one can image a finger, therefor the name 'finger' NMR. This machine uses a 'portable' permanent magnet of 60 kg. This has a field of 0.3 T and a homogeneity of 10E-5 for 1 DSV, which is 'just' enough for imaging purposes.

Using a home built gradient driver linear gradients in 2 and 3D can be made up to 3000 Hz/mm with a rise time in the order of 0.5 ms. For the NMR a home-built receiver/transmitter is used. All data-acquisition is done using the PhyDAS system which is operated under real time operating system Vx-Works.

This system is communicating with a PC system which is used for interfacing with the NMR and visualization of the data.
