Hi, my name is Koen Schlangen and I am a bachelor student at Applied Physics. For my final project I am working on some fundamental research on magnetohydrodynamic flows. I am working with a metal fluid which is moving because of electrical currents and a magnetic field. For this project I have build a setup to make a uniform magnetic field of 90 mT. This may seem only a little field but it took 10 coils of 30 kg each. With this project I am helping to understand these flows which may one day be used in a tokamak. When I first saw this project in a tour I thought it would be very interesting and challenging so I went and asked if I could do some work on it. Everybody was very enthusiastic to continue this project so here I am.
